SREBRENICA MASSACRE 20TH ANNIVERSARY

SREBRENICA MASSACRE
People of Srebrenica remembered the massacre committed by Serb forces on its 20th Anniversary. Around 10,000 people took part in an annual peace march. It takes the same route a men and boys tried to flee the Serb.

Thousand have gone to the graveyard in Bosnia-Herzegovina to mark the 20th anniversary of the Serb massacre.

It is estimated that about 8,000 Bosnia-Muslim men and boys were killed.

On Wednesday Russia vetoed a UN resolution calling the event A GENOCIDE -  it angered Serbia.

-         6 -8 July, 1995  -  Bosnia-Serb forces started shelling Srebrenica enclave.

-         8 July  -  Dutch peacekeeper required UN air support after Bosnian-Serb shelled Dutch position.

-         11 July  -  More than 20,000 refugees fled to main Dutch base at Potocan.

-         Serb threatened to kill Dutch hostage and shell refugees after Dutch F17 fighter bombed Serb position.  Bosnia-Serb commander Ratko Mladic enters Srebrenica and deliver ed an ultimatum that Muslim must had over weapon

-         12 July  -  An estimated 23,000 women and children are deported to Muslim territory; men and boys 12 – 77 taken for “interrogation” and held in trucks and warehouses.

-         First killing of unarmed Muslim took place near the village of Kravica. Peacekeepers hand over some 5,000Muslim sheltering at Dutch base in exchange for the release of 14 Dutch peacekeepers held by the Bosnia-Serb forces.

-         14 July  -  Reports of massacre started to emerge.

On the News it showed how women were begging, with tears running down their checks, the UN peacekeepers to go and rescues their sons and . husbands and fathers but they just sat there, on their trucks, looking down on them and did nothing.  The UN peacekeeping force was there to keep the Serbs and Muslims apart. Why did they not prevent it?

However, the UN peacekeeping force is known and has a reputation by now that they do nothing, for unknown reason, if there is real urgency for action.  It is another waste of big money.

Under President Tito there was never any trouble and Yugoslavia was the most open and free country under the Soviet Union. It is a beautiful country and was a favourite tourist spot, winter as well as summer.

Serb Prime Minister Alexander Vucic was a former ultra-nationalist who is now a pro-Western. He was chased away and stone were thrown at him.  He had to flee to save his live. Since Mr Vucic is pro-Western it makes you wonder whether the USA was behind him all the times.

Ex-president Bill Clinton who was president at the time apologised for bringing the war not to end earlier. In my opinion, Mr Clinton should not have been there since he did nothing to prevent the massacre.

So far it is nowhere written what happened to Serb commander  Ratko Mladic? Rumours have it that the Serbs are protecting him.  He was caught and arrested and brought to De Hague as witness to his co-commander but caused so much confusion and declare the trial and court “sadistic”. After that there does not seem any record of him.
